My Story: Why I trained as a homeopath - and the question I couldn't stop asking myself...

When my son was two years old, he started getting repeated tonsilitis. We visited the doctor, and three times we were given antibiotics. Each time, the infection came back. It was at that point I had a realisation that stopped me in my tracks: antibiotics are literally the only tool conventional medicine has to offer in this situation. There was no other option on the table.
The doctors we saw were wonderful. Caring, thorough and doing exactly what they were trained to do. But they can only work with the tools they have. And in that moment, I realised that there has to be more than this.
What Happened When We Tried Homeopathy?
We booked an appointment with a homeopath, not quite knowing what to expect. What struck me first was the appointment itself. We were not rushed. The homeopath spent over an hour with us, asking questions I hadn't anticipated. Questions about his personality, his sleep, his fears, how he reacted to things. She wanted to understand him as a whole person, not just his symptoms.
We felt heard and taken seriously. In a way, the appointment itself was very healing, long before the remedies had even been prescribed. What followed genuinely surprised me. His tonsillitis cleared up. But that wasn't all... he had also been suffering with molluscum, a stubborn viral skin condition, and that disappeared too! And the eczema he had always struggled with? It has never returned.
He is nine now, and yes, he still gets the odd tonsil flare-up, we have three children, so there is always something doing the rounds! But each time, we know exactly how to treat it with homeopathy. He hasn't needed antibiotics since he was two years old and as a mother, that means everything.
Feeling Called to Train:
When something works that well for your child, it changes you. I didn't just want to use homeopathy, I felt called to understand it deeply and to help others find what we had found. So I trained. Four years of study, dedication, and a growing passion for this extraordinary system of healing.
On graduation at the end of my training, I was honoured to receive The Stephanie Botham Award given in recognition of outstanding commitment, personal growth, and being a future advocate for the art of homeopathy. Only one student in the entire school receives this award each year, and I still feel deeply humbled by it.
What Homeopathy Offers That Conventional Medicine Doesn't:
I am not anti-medicine. Conventional medicine saves lives every day, and I have enormous respect for the people who work within it. But it is largely built around treating symptoms, identifying what is wrong and suppressing or removing it. Homeopathy works differently.
Homeopathy treats the whole person, physically, mentally, and emotionally. It asks not just what is happening in the body, but why, and who is this person as an individual. Two people with the same diagnosis may receive entirely different remedies, because they are entirely different people. That level of personalised care is something conventional medicine hasn't fully embraced.
That is what drew me in. That is what keeps me passionate. And that is what I bring to every consultation - the belief that when we treat the whole person, real and lasting change is possible.
If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to hear your story.
